He is currently pursuing a PhD in Fine Arts at Hongik University in Seoul, where he currently lives and works. Wang’s painting practice centers on the purity of form. By intentionally introducing absence or concealment in the traditional visual sense, he transforms the natural meaning of objects into a gateway for understanding the essence of the image. In his works, the perception of objecthood, space, color and identity is closely linked with the treatment of pictorial flatness. Through decoding and reassembling visual elements, Wang constructs a “newspaper theatre” within three-dimensional space—one that reflects his contemplation of contemporary social conditions and personal identity. His works are held in the collections of X Museum, START Museum and other institutions.
